Fewer passports can give you more mobility than a Portuguese one.
The 2021 ranking is out, and Portugal climbed another step, from 4th to 3rd, on the passport mobility ladder. The are currently 104 countries that do not require visa, and another 35 that allow Portuguese citizens to just get one at arrival.
While in relative terms this is a all-time high, the same is not true in absolute terms. Pre-covid, the world was fairly different when it came to travelling. Back in 2019 a Portuguese citizen could enter 125 countries visa free and another 48 with a visa on arrival.
